How to make the most of your sauna session

At Rē Sauna, we’ll help you take self-care to the next level!

When you’re in one of our infrared saunas, we want you to feel like nothing else exists. It’s a private space where you can relax and recharge, getting to know yourself and understanding what you need to fill your cup.

Schedule your sauna session according to your personal needs, whether it’s first thing in the morning to start your day on a high note or in the evening to wind down and promote a good night’s sleep.

While our private rooms provide a space for you to read, watch TV or listen to music, there are other ways you can make the most of your session while experiencing an invigorating deep-tissue sweat.

No matter what you decide on, remember your time in the sauna is supposed to be relaxing. This is YOUR time, so take full advantage of it. Dim the lights. Try to relax any tense muscles. Stop thinking about your grocery or to-do lists (we know it’s easier said than done!).

We’ve compiled a few ways you can take your sauna session to the next level:

Be mindful.

Due to the busy nature of our society, it seems like we’re often thinking about the past and planning for the future. By practicing mindfulness, you learn to pay attention to the present and focus on what you are doing, thinking and feeling in the moment. Get to know yourself a bit – we promise it’s not scary!

Try meditation.

Between the solitude and the heat, saunas promote one of the best environments for introspection and maintaining a sense of calmness.

During a Rē Sauna session, you can connect to Spotify, which has plenty of meditation playlists to choose from (here’s one of our faves). Nature sounds or instrumental music can also promote relaxation without being distracting.

If you’re not into meditation, even breathing deeply and closing your eyes can feel pretty blissful!

Enjoy a good stretch.

Stretching is one of the best things you can do during your sauna session.

Stretch your arms, legs, neck, back – wherever you feel stiff! It doesn’t need to be intense; even light stretching can help improve your range of motion and flexibility, and loosen your muscles a bit.

Add a little colour to your life.

We offer chromotherapy in our saunas, or the science of using colours to promote healing and relaxation. It uses different wavelengths of visible light to affect your body and mind. Whether you’re looking for rest or a boost in energy, there’s a colour for that!

In closing, there are several relaxing techniques you can use during a sauna session. Make sure to take some time after your sweat to cool down and transition back to real life!
